Launch of the Global Learning Library - 28 October 2014 - Since our move into Forest Lodge Education Centre in August 2013, we have focused on sorting the collections and developing a strategy to ensure they respond to the needs of teachers, schools and voluntary groups.
We re-launched the centre at an open evening on 28 October 2014 which was attended by 42 people. and included a packed programme of activities and displays. We had great support from colleagues in Learning Services staff and representatives from a range of providers. People made the most of the networking opportunities and there was a real buzz during the event with 19 new teachers joining the library. We were able to publicise a number of upcoming global learning projects and training opportunities.
The event featured our extensive collection of Black History resources alongside an exhibition about the history of braiding and demonstrations from Cherub Braids. We also introduced our Heritage Lottery funded project 'Making Waves' which will work with schools to raise awareness of the black British experience.
We produce a number of monthly newsletter for the Global Learning Library to provide updates and information about forthcoming events, projects and training. This will go out to all member of the Global Learning Library. Download the latest newsletter here. If you would like to be added to the email circulation list, please join the library.
