Education for Sustainable Development (ESD)

With first hand experience of projects for sustainable development in Nicaragua, the LMLG has the resources and the expertise to support ESD work in schools.

To this end, the LMLG is an active member of the Regional Centre of Expertise (RCE) on Education for Sustainable Development.

This brings together practitioners and educationalists in ESD and Global Citizenship and includes representatives from all sectors - schools, further and higher education, adult and continuing education, youth and the voluntary sectors.

The LMLG has a specific interest in working with schools, helping to delivery and support the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) framework for Sustainable Schools.

This is done through the Global Gardeners project, a programme of participatory activities for schools which provides active education for sustainable development to stimulate a deeper understanding of the relationship between plants and people in our local lives and on the global scale.
