Development Education and Global Awareness Raising

The LMLG seeks to raise awareness of global issues across all sectors of the community in Leicester, through projects in schools, youth projects, cultural exchanges and public events.

The LMLG holds accreditation as a Development Education Centre and the twinning link with Masaya is integral to our educational work in Leicester.  Food for Thought is our flagship project for schools that has been running since 2005.

The LMLG also co-ordinates Global Education LeicesterShire (GELS), a network that supports projects and partnerships between schools and local organisations to help develop the global dimension within the curriculum and the wider school community.  GELS operates from our resource centre in Southfields Library.

We are a member of and contribute to a number of local and regional networks which promote global citizenship, education for sustainable development and international linking.
